Spearheaded by the non-profit Alliance of Tribal Tourism Advocates (ATTA), major accomplishments have already occurred on the Hé Sapa Black Hills Center project. ATTA has secured a three-acre site for the Hé Sapa Black Hills Center, near downtown Rapid City and adjacent to its exceptional Journey Museum at 222 New York Street, just east of the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center.

The City of Rapid City has committed $812,000 toward the project’s estimated $1.8 million for Phase I construction. Individual supporters and organizations have pledged donations ranging from $10 to $100,000. Site plans and artist’s renderings have been developed and revised to address issues of public safety, as well as mitigating any sound and noise pollution.
